Talks:

Aiming for Better: Finding shared ground for conversations on Firearm Injury Prevention
How do we reduce firearm injuries in our community?  Where do we start the conversation?  Discussions about firearms can provoke strong emotions.  Many Americans own firearms, and many Americans have either experienced, or had a loved one experience, a firearm-related threat, injury, or death.  Fortunately, we have common ground.  Safety and responsibility are strong, shared values among firearm owners, non-owners, medical providers, and community organizations. In this talk, I will review public health data on firearm injuries in our community, discuss practical steps to improve safe firearm ownership, and provide take-home tips on how you can engage in productive community conversations on reducing firearm injuries and deaths.
