Katie Geha is a writer, curator, and art historian. She is the Director of Tandem Press at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and her MA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has curated exhibitions by Kara Walker, Paul Pfeiffer, and Rosemary Mayer, among others. Tandem Press is a publisher of fine art prints that hosts internationally renowned artists in its studio space, assisting them as they create original fine art editions.

In this talk, Dr. Katie Geha will discuss her role as Director Tandem Press, a fine art print publisher affiliated with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, that collaborates with internationally acclaimed artists to create original print editions. Known for pushing the boundaries of printmaking, Tandem champions innovation through process-driven experimentation and dynamic collaboration. Geha will share insights into the role of Print in Contemporary Art —from artist collaboration and technical problem-solving to marketing and collector engagement to teaching new processes. She’ll explore how complex, hybrid projects come to life through the inventive use of multiple printmaking processes and unconventional materials. The discussion will also highlight how the print studio serves as a powerful educational model—bridging traditional techniques with contemporary practices, and offering students a hands-on, collaborative framework that redefines art education.
