Dr. López began her career in education as a bilingual (Spanish/English) elementary teacher, and later as a high school counselor, in El Paso, Texas. She received her Ph.D. in educational psychology and has received numerous grants, awards, and fellowships for her research. López is a fellow of the American Educational Research Association and the American Psychological Association, as well as a co-editor of National Education Policy Center publications and the Review of Educational Research.

Schools Where All Students Can Thrive

Dual language education continues to expand across the United States and has been shown to be a promising context that fosters academic success for all students. While challenges remain in ensuring equitable access and implementation, there are strategies that can provide access. This talk will describe evidence on ways leaders and communities can promote access to dual language programs.
