Chamber Percussion Ensemble

Mead Witter School of Music

Step into the rhythmic world of the UW–Madison Chamber Percussion Ensemble, where cutting-edge artistry meets global reach. Dedicated to performing significant works from the 20th and 21st centuries, this ensemble explores a wide spectrum of compositional styles—from minimalist soundscapes to avant-garde experimentation and everything in between.

Led by Professor Anthony Di Sanza, Todd Hammes, and Tom Ross, with support from graduate percussionists, the ensemble thrives on collaboration and versatility. While the ensemble emphasizes unconducted chamber works, it also regularly performs large-scale conducted pieces for up to 15 percussionists, showcasing the full power and nuance of the percussion family. Chamber Percussion Ensemble delivers performances that are bold, boundary-pushing, and deeply engaging. The ensemble has performed regularly throughout the Upper Midwest, and has also performed internationally, including Valencia, Spain in 2024, and Shenyang and Beijing, China in 2015.

In this program, they will delight audiences with 45 to 60 minutes of music from a recent or upcoming concert. There is also an opportunity for informal interaction with the performers after the concert.
