Talks:

On Thin Ice: Measuring Changes in Wisconsin Lake Ice

Diving into the changes seen across Wisconsin’s lakes, both on a local scale and the Great Lakes, during the winter season, and the environmental implications of those changes.

Weather Warnings: Severe Weather Trends & Patterns in Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s weather is becoming increasingly variable, with tornadoes in February and 80° weather in November. We’ll look at patterns in severe weather across the state, what types of changes are being seen, and what communities are impacted.

Warming Winters in Wisconsin

A discussion of how Wisconsin winters are changing and the impacts seen in agriculture, the environment, and the economy.

WORKSHOP: Weather Works

A wide range of weather, including tornadoes, lightning, flooding, and extreme temperatures, impacts Wisconsin. Students will learn the foundations of everyday weather, from making clouds to simulating warm and cold fronts, learning how these processes can escalate into dangerous weather situations. This workshop is best suited for students in grades 4 to 8.

WORKSHOP: Up in the Clouds

Weather is for everyone! Young students (K-3) will gain an understanding of the difference between weather and climate, learn about how different types of clouds form, and even watch one be created inside. They will learn the importance of climate records and make their own weather observations.
