Mehrnaz Ahmadi Joobaneh

Mehrnaz is an Integration Engineer with the Division of Information Technology’s Application Infrastructure Services at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. As part of the dynamic Integration Team, she supports enterprise platforms used campuswide and manages key integrations that power essential systems and services.

A highlight of her role at UW–Madison is managing projects end to end through collaboration with the university’s diverse communities. She also proudly represents UW–Madison in the Big Ten Academic Alliance Women in Technology (BTAA WIT) group. In 2024, Mehrnaz received the Ellen La Luzerne Award for Community Engagement.

Her journey into technology began unexpectedly while coordinating a virtual symposium, which sparked a deep interest in IT and inspired her to return to school to study programming. Since then, she has embraced a variety of IT roles, leading projects from start to finish, driven by curiosity and a love for problem-solving.

Outside of work, Mehrnaz enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new hobbies that keep her inspired.

Vicki Bier

Vicki Bier is Professor Emerita in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and the Department of Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she directed the Center for Human Performance and Risk Analysis (formerly the Center for Human Performance in Complex Systems) from 1995 until 2021. She has over 30 years of experience in risk analysis for the nuclear power, chemical, petrochemical, and aerospace industries. Dr. Bier’s research focuses on applications of risk analysis and related methods to problems of security, critical infrastructure protection, climate change, and pandemic response. Dr. Bier was elected a Fellow of the Society for Risk Analysis in 1996, from which she received the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2007. She served as the engineering editor for Risk Analysis from 1997 through 2001, and is currently the Editor in Chief of Decision Analysis.

Rahul Chatterjee

Rahul Chatterjee is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer, Data, and Information Sciences at UW-Madison. Prof. Chatterjee researches on user-centric cybersecurity: a new technology design paradigm that centers around the safety, security, and privacy of people. He looks into how technology raises safety, security, and privacy concerns for at-risk individuals like survivors of domestic violence and how to empower them to fight against such abuse. Prof Chatterjee is the founder of Madison Tech Clinic that support survivors of domestic violence who are spied on, stalked, or harassed using technological means.

Jason Fletcher

Jason Fletcher is a Romnes Professor of Public Affairs with appointments in Sociology, Agricultural and Applied Economics and Population Health Sciences as well as the Director of the Center for Demography on Health and Aging at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to coming to UW in 2013, he held appointments at Yale University and Columbia University. Fletcher has published over 125 academic articles and has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health, William T. Grant Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Russell Sage Foundation, among others. A health economist by training, he has worked to integrate genetics and social science over the past decade, culminating in his book The Genome Factor.

Patrick McDaniel

Patrick’s professional life is devoted to the pursuit of novel research in a broad array of areas of computer science (see below). As part of that pursuit he is fortunate to advise a number of exceptionally talented and committed graduate students and post-docs, as well as participate in many rewarding professional service activities.

Patrick’s research focuses on a wide range of topics in computer and network security and technical public policy, with particular interests in mobile and IoT device security, adversarial machine learning, systems security, program analysis, and the integrity and security of election systems.

Dorothea Salo

Dorothea Salo teaches about digital information in the iSchool at UW-Madison: everything from online privacy and security to relational-database design. She has also built “Recover Analog and Digital Data” (RADD) to save personal, family, and community history in Wisconsin from decaying 20th-century media such as VHStapes and floppy disks. Her professional interests include copyright, scholarly communication, and digital preservation.

Dave Schroeder

Dave Schroeder (SHRAY-der) is the Director of National Security Initiatives at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dave is a subject matter expert on cyber and national security issues. He also serves as an Cyber Warfare Officer and Military Intelligence Officer in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, and previously served as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. He holds a PhD in Cyber Defense, master’s degrees in Cybersecurity Policy and Information Warfare, and is graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, Naval War College, and Joint Forces Staff College. He also serves as Research Director for the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium.

Claudia Solis-Lemus

Claudia Solis-Lemus grew up in Mexico City, where she completed her undergraduate work at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico in Actuarial Sciences and Applied Mathematics. Claudia received her Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and then a postdoc with the Department of Botany. After that, she completed a postdoc at Emory University in the Department of Human Genetics.
